The Noh Theatre is sited in Shinjuku Golden Gai (新宿ゴールデン街), and awakens with the opening hours of the bars in the area.

The complex's hard mechanism is powered by hydraulics, resulting in an ever-changing mutual performance between the Noh player and the audience. The transformation is inspired by a traditional Japanese gardening concept - Miegakure(見え隠れ). The deconstruction of the existing structures to the awakening of a transforming beast also pays homage to the Metabolism movement that took place between the 1960s and 70s in Japan.
